LOCAL 99 GENERAL MEETING

February 18, 2011

PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR NOW

Date:  Monday, March 7, 2011
Time: Food at 5:45, Meeting at 6:30

Subject: Single Payer Health Care–Your Local 99 Executive Board decided that it would be important to have a discussion and vote to determine if Local 99 supports endorsement of the Single Payer Health Care legislation that is being introduced in the Oregon Legislature this year, one of 20 states to do so.

We have invited a representative from Jobs with Justice to give a short presentation, and we may have a couple of short video pieces as well.  Also, Local 99 participated in a survey on health care and musicians with the Jeremy Wilson Foundation and we may have some of the early results of that survey to share.  This will be followed by an open discussion and vote to determine our position.  Your Board believes this is a critical subject that has a dramatic impact on our membership and musicians in general, so please attend and make your voice heard.

Location: Local 99’s newly lit Rehearsal Space, 325 NE 20th, Portland
