MUSIC PUBLISHING - A two part forum

On MONDAY JANUARY 18, 7PM-9PM    Local 99 will present the second in educational series:

The first part will be devoted to the various aspects of music publishing, including
. Accessing artists to record your songs
. Income streams from music publishing
. The differences between ASCAP, BMI and SESAC, and how to maximize your performing rights income
. Rights involved in theatrical productions (grand rights)
. Self-publishing vs. co-publishing, or using a music publisher
. Music in print

The second part of the discussion will concern:
. How to create instructional folios and get them published
. How to submit proposals for writing books about music. 
. Accessing music publishers
. Royalty issues and advances
. Using or not using a book agent

The program will be presented by Dick Weissman,  who has written over 50 published instructional folios for Alfred Music, Mel Bay, Cherry Music, Schirmers, etc.  He has also written 18 books about music and the music business, published by Crown, De Capo, Facts On File, Globe/Pequot, Knopf, Hal Leonard Books and Writer’s Digest.

All forums are free to members of Local 99, $10 to members of other musical organizations, and $20 for the general public.
